Muscles, blood vessels, and bones are organic tissues that have a high water content, which is a good conductor of electricity. In contrast, body fat (adipose tissue) has una low electrical conductivity. The BF511 unit sends an extremely weak electric current (less than 500 µA at a frequency of 50 kHz) through the body to calculate the amount of adipose tissue.
